Humanity is going through yet another toughest test of history. By the time I am writing this already the disease had spread to 311,796 people worldwide and 13,071 had already died. The math is terrifying as we all know. But as we all know we have no time to waste. It is time for actions. The actions are the responsibility of both governments and people. Sometimes the smallest step by you may help the entire humanity. Yes, indeed we are in a war, but not for any nation, religion nor ideology. But for all who are human, to protect us and our fellow being. It’s our responsibility to respond to the call. On July 21, 1969, a man landed on the moon first time in the history and said: “That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.” He was a part of history as we all know. And this is the turn for each of us, to be the heroes of today by taking small steps, by ensuring that you are not going to spread that disease to anyone else. This is only possible by social distancing.
What is the true power of humankind? It is our ability to coordinate in such a large scale based on whatever imagination we have. That is the greatest thing that we needed in this situation. And surely we would overcome this threat. It is true that nothing will be like before. The entire world would be changed, society would be changed, you and I would be changed. Everything would be changed so that after the pandemic, the very next day you will be walking into an entirely different world. But this isn’t new. Don’t worry my friends after the two world wars world had seen drastic changes, still, humanity adapted to those changes. Changes will be there, but we will adapt to it. There will be new challenges, including the economic crisis, but believe humans have a great imagination. So together, humanity could face new challenges. But for that we need to survive.
Corona was spreading in China towards the end of 2019. The world didn’t think that there will be a pandemic, which no one could control. From the seafood market in Wuhan, the virus started spreading. Initially, people thought that it is pneumonia, but it was not. It was more lethal. But it already started to spread in China. But the world was still at sleep. Even when it caused many deaths in China many of us were feeling safe, but suddenly it started to appear in other nations also. It’s like my friends until it comes to our own home we will not take it seriously. China could stop spreading the disease but by that time, it was already spreading in Europe. Many of us had seen the pictures of military convoy carrying dead bodies in Italy. Did you ever imagines such a terrifying picture one week ago. Almost none of us would think like that. But this had happened. The sights are worst than war. But we need to control the spread before it takes away everything.
We are eagerly waiting for a vaccine against COVID-19, and blaming our researchers for not doing their job properly. But see paper published on 2007, which was way before the spread. So clearly they had given us the early warning. It was the system including governments and people who neglected their conclusions. And now all of us are facing it’s problem.
The only possible way to contain this disease is social distancing. Be separated from the rest of the world physically. It is both for you and others. In fact, I could tell you about how the virus spreads. If you are infected 5-7 days there will be no symptoms. One will not even know that the virus is already inside him. Then you will probably go everywhere, will attend functions. People who are there will not treat that guy as an infected person, and it would spread to others also. So by the time he is showing minor symptoms a number of people would be already infected. And the same problem continues. The government could tackle this by taking list of people who have primary or secondary contact with the infected one. But we cannot be 100% sure on that. So the best and easiest possible way is social distancing. Treat yourself as an infected one and keep a distance from others.
Let me tell how the virus becomes a threat. It is not that lethal, considering other deadly viruses. But it spreads so rapidly. What is the big deal in that? Simply it will create causes will be well beyond the limit of the hospital system/health system in your state or nation. Then the hospital staffs have to make a decision, to which one they have to provide oxygen. Friends, I am not telling this to frighten you, this is what happened already. And this is what going to happen if we neglect security measures. So clearly we must act now.
So my dear friend, who is reading this, this is the request to join this effort. I don’t know which language you are speaking, I don’t know your nationality, gender or age. But I am sure that you are a human and at least one word I had said would be considered by you. We can still make a wonderful world, but only if you are with this effort.
